I hope you find something of interest

Firstly may I introduce myself- I am a 73-year-old pensioner, I have been married for 48 years to a wife who has always encouraged me to take part in activities outside of the home as well as inside. I have three children and five grand children. Most of my life has been spent in the retail trade, managing shops or running my own business.
The last 10 years of my working life were spent in the Billiards and Snooker World, managing The Berkshire Snooker Club at Windsor and also as Sales Manager on the manufacturing side of the trade. I have always been involved in sport, playing football in the earlier years and Cricket up to the age of 36 when I had the misfortune to loose an eye whilst playing. I had played Billiards and Snooker from the age of 18 and was pleased to find out that the loss of an eye did not interfere with my game. I played at a reasonably high amateur level, winning several league tournaments, and organizing and playing in the Southern Counties Billiard League. I have held a Coaching Certificate, and a Referee's License since 1983. My main involvement in this field now is in teaching young people the basics and etiquette of the game, and organizing their Leagues and Tournaments.

My other love has been FANCY PIGEONS. I had pigeons of a sort from about the age of 5 but in 1947 was introduced to showing. My first love were Archangels which I showed for about 20 years. In the earlier years around 10 pairs of Archangels were bred from, but they were gradually taken over by my love of the Blowing breeds. I had my first pairs of Holle Croppers in 1950, building up a team of most of the available colours, and winning virtually everything there was to win. I became the breed Club Secretary in 1964 and kept the breed through to 1975 when for a short period I took up Racing, again with considerable success, winning well at Club and Federation level and a number of very lucrative Open Races. When I became a Club Manager in 1981 I had not the necessary time to train my birds, so I again went back to the Fancy Breeds. This time I took up another blowing breed, the Voorburg Shield Cropper, these are a fascinating breed that my eldest Grandson still keeps and does very well with today. I now keep Brunner Pouters, German Modenas, and African Owls.

In 1987 I visited the Dutch National Show at Den Haag. There I fell in love again, this time with the Brunner Pouter, and bought two pairs there and then- I am now the Secretary of the Brunner Pouter Club who have their own site.
